If you have ever experienced a toothache, you know they can be painful. While toothaches are relatively common, they can also interfere with your function. We would like to help you find out the cause of your toothache in Charlotte, North Carolina, to help you relieve the pain and enjoy the comfort you deserve. To help you find out what is causing your toothache, Dr. Julia Gorelik would like to review some of the common causes that may be giving you tooth problems.

Oftentimes a tooth might hurt when some kind of food particle has become lodged between your teeth. Relieving this pain is relatively simple, you can brush and floss carefully to remove the debris. Rinsing well can help to loosen the particle as well.

Another common cause of toothache is when you have damaged dental work or an infection. Perhaps a dental crown or dental bridge has broken, or a dental filling has come loose. When this happens, it will put pressure on the tooth and cause you discomfort. If you have an abscessed tooth (when the tooth has an infection) you will also experience pain. With these types of dental emergencies, you will want to visit Dr. Gorelik to help resolve the issue as soon as possible and find comfort.

Tooth decay is another common reason for a toothache. If you have a tooth in your smile with a cavity, you will want to see your dentist as soon as possible for treatment. If you try brushing, flossing and rinsing thoroughly, or if even swishing with saltwater doesn’t provide relief, then it is a pretty good chance you have tooth decay that needs addressing.

No one likes to be in pain, particularly if it is in your mouth as it is difficult to ignore.
